Getting there

From Falcone e Borsellino Airport, 13 km away, the easiest option is the regional train on the Passante line, linking the airport with Palermo Centrale and stopping at Palermo Sferracavallo: about twenty minutes, with roughly two trains an hour in 2026, Sundays included. A lit footpath leads from the station into the village. By car it takes about 15 minutes; the property also offers an airport shuttle for a fee.

From Palermo Centrale the same trains take between 32 and 41 minutes. Drivers leave the A29 motorway at the Sferracavallo exit. The property has no parking of its own: guests use public parking in the area, for a fee, and in summer the village is often congested and may have pedestrian zones and traffic restrictions. With the train, a car is not essential.

What to see

Sferracavallo is a fishing village recorded since the fifteenth century, when a tuna fishery was built here: it keeps two small harbours, anti-pirate watchtowers and the 1840 church of Saints Cosmas and Damian. The patron saints of fishermen are celebrated in the last week of September with a procession, a rowing race and fireworks. The signature dish is pasta di Sferracavallo, with squid, prawns and wild fennel.

Barcarello marks the start of the Capo Gallo nature reserve, with trails, karst caves and a lighthouse overlooking a marine protected area. Mondello, with its pale sand and Art Nouveau Antico Stabilimento Balneare, is just over 4 km away; central Palermo, with the Palatine Chapel and the Zisa on the UNESCO Arab-Norman route, is about 11 km.
